The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research has officially announced the selection of the Alexandria Alliance for Smart & Sustainable Mobility as one of the winning alliances under the Presidential Initiative “Taḥāluf wa Tanmiya.” The initiative aims to strengthen collaboration between academia, industry, and civil society to drive sustainable development and economic growth across Egypt.

Notably, the Alexandria Alliance emerged as the sole representative of the Alexandria region among more than 100 competing applicants, underscoring its strategic importance and the strength of its integrated vision. The selection aligns closely with Egypt’s Vision 2030, particularly its pillars focused on green economic growth, clean technology adoption, and innovation-led competitiveness.

Advancing Green Economy and Clean Technology Adoption

The Alexandria Alliance is designed to play a central role in accelerating Egypt’s transition toward a green economy, with a strong emphasis on smart and sustainable mobility solutions. At the core of its mission lies the localization of electric vehicle (EV) technology in Egypt, through the establishment of a fully integrated innovation ecosystem that supports research, development, talent building, and commercialization.

By fostering collaboration across sectors, the alliance seeks to bridge the gap between academic research and real-world industrial applications. This approach not only enhances technology transfer but also supports the development of scalable, market-ready solutions that contribute to reducing emissions and improving transportation efficiency.

Building an Integrated Smart Mobility Ecosystem

The alliance aims to create a comprehensive framework that empowers entrepreneurs and startups operating in the mobility sector, while simultaneously training and qualifying engineers and specialists with future-ready skills. These efforts are designed to meet the evolving needs of local, regional, and global markets, positioning Egypt as a competitive hub for smart mobility innovation.

Moreover, the initiative opens new industrial pathways for youth, providing access to advanced skills in areas such as electric mobility systems, intelligent transport solutions, sustainability, and digital transformation. In doing so, it supports job creation, knowledge-based growth, and long-term economic resilience.

Industry Leaders Highlight the Human-Centered Approach

Commenting on the alliance’s selection, Bassam Sharkawy, Co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer at Sprints, emphasized the broader responsibility associated with this achievement. He noted that while discussions around smart mobility often center on technology and electric vehicles, sustainable progress fundamentally starts with people. Through its role in the alliance, Sprints is focused on preparing a new generation capable of contributing to smart mobility across design, development, operations, and sustainability.

In the same context, Ayman Bazaraa, Co-founder and CEO of Sprints, described the alliance as a tangible step toward building a sustainable smart mobility ecosystem in Egypt. He highlighted that integrating academia, government, and industry creates real opportunities for youth to acquire future-oriented skills, while enabling innovation in electric and intelligent transportation systems to reach the market effectively.

A Strong Network Across Egypt’s Innovation Landscape

The Alexandria Alliance brings together a diverse and influential network of partners from across Egypt’s innovation ecosystem. Alexandria University serves as the academic partner, providing research capabilities and talent development, while EiTESAL acts as the civil society partner and general coordinator.

The alliance also includes leading technology and industrial companies such as Brightskies, Geyushi Automotive, CourseVox, Sprints, and EVRAID, each contributing specialized expertise across software, manufacturing, training, and electric mobility solutions. This collaborative structure ensures a balanced approach that combines knowledge creation, skills development, and industrial execution.

Strengthening Egypt’s Global Competitiveness

The selection of the Alexandria Alliance highlights the growing importance of cross-sector collaboration in shaping Egypt’s future economic landscape. By uniting academia, industry, and civil society around a shared vision, the alliance reinforces Egypt’s ability to compete globally, accelerate the adoption of low-emission mobility solutions, and build a sustainable transportation sector aligned with international standards.

Ultimately, the initiative represents a strategic milestone in Egypt’s journey toward smart, sustainable, and inclusive growth, positioning the country as an emerging leader in the future of mobility.
