Jotun Egypt recently welcomed H.E. Erik B. Husem, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Egypt, in his first official visit to the company’s latest and most technologically advanced manufacturing facility. The visit underscores Jotun’s ongoing commitment to supporting the Egyptian economy and its strategic ambition to contribute to the country’s strong growth potential.
Showcasing a State-of-the-Art Manufacturing Facility
The visit provided an opportunity to present Jotun’s new production facility, inaugurated in 2024, which is now considered one of the most advanced paint manufacturing plants in Egypt.
The factory has an annual production capacity of 72 million liters through a single production line operating on one shift, and employs approximately 450 people. This reflects Jotun’s long-term commitment to supporting industrial development and economic growth in Egypt.
The company’s investment in this facility amounts to approximately $100 million, reinforcing its position as a long-term industrial partner in the country.
Sustainability and Environmental Commitment
The plant has been designed in line with the highest Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) standards, with a strong focus on reducing carbon emissions and improving energy efficiency.
This aligns with Jotun’s global “GreenSteps” sustainability program, which aims to reduce environmental impact and support long-term sustainable manufacturing practices.
Expanding Egypt’s Role as a Regional Export Hub
Beyond serving the local market, Jotun Egypt continues to expand its export footprint to markets including Libya, Kenya, and the United States, with upcoming plans to enter Turkey and Morocco.
This expansion supports the company’s broader strategy to position Egypt as a regional export hub, particularly for African markets, while strengthening its presence in the decorative, industrial, and marine coatings segments.
Strategic Industrial Positioning
Jotun continues to strengthen its position through high-performance solutions and innovative services that add value beyond products.
The company plays an active role in key sectors such as construction, energy, and infrastructure, all of which are experiencing significant growth in Egypt.
Executive Statements
Ibrahim El Shamy, Managing Director of Jotun Egypt, stated that the visit reflects the strength of Egyptian-Norwegian relations and reaffirms the company’s commitment to supporting economic growth and expanding its operations in Egypt.
H.E. Erik B. Husem praised the advanced manufacturing capabilities of Jotun Egypt, highlighting the factory as a strong example of growing economic ties between Norway and Egypt and emphasizing the role of Norwegian investments in supporting local economic development and export capabilities.
