Dr. Islam Azzam, Chairman of Egypt’s Financial Regulatory Authority (FRA), received a delegation from the U.S. Embassy in Cairo led by Economic Counselor Ben Thompson. The meeting was attended by Omar Reda, the newly appointed Chairman of the Egyptian Exchange, and Mohamed Sabry, Vice Chairman.

During the meeting, Dr. Azzam highlighted the latest initiatives undertaken by the FRA to enhance Egypt’s capital market infrastructure. These include:

- Launch of futures trading on the Egyptian Exchange index
- Licensing of six brokerage firms to operate in the futures market
- Preparation for introducing options contracts in the near future
